"I am a 77 year old retiree, and I have lived in Palatine, Ilinois for the past forty years. During that time, all of my home and auto insurance needs have been handled through an independent agency. A few weeks ago, I received in the mail my annual renewal from the insurer I have had for the past year. I was in disbelief when I saw that my annual home premium had increased almost 25%, while my auto premium had increased by almost 42%. What was more frustrating was that, in the past forty years, I haven't filed any claims with any of my insurance companies.
